Garrett Benjamin Brock was born July 31, 1998 at 4:00 pm at home in Gray Tennessee. His father delivered with the help of Pat Nicely. He is named after two of his great-grandfathers, Gerrit Rietman (maternal) and Benjamin Brock (paternal). He weighed in at 9lbs 14 oz and measured 21 3/4" (Strangely, his mother refused the name Obadiah, despite its ancient and revered use on the paternal side of the family).,
